Yeah, we rented Brütal Legend for the weekend, since it's Fall Break this week and my brother and I are off of school all week. So, a mini review:

Brütal Legend
First off, I HATE having to type that freaky "u". But that shouldn't have anything to do with my opinion of the game, and I won't let it. It's a pretty solid game overall. The concept is great and the creature design (both ally and enemy) is really imaginative. It doesn't hurt that at one point in the game, you get to beat up a crowd of those little emo-turds who think they're little black-haired garage band is the heaviest sound on earth, all while listening to the likes of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Mötley Crüe. Speaking of the soundtrack, it is freaking awesome. There's a TON of bands they put in the game that are as good, if not better than, most of the mainstream heavy metal bands (IE Dragonforce, Slayer, Metallica, ect). I intend to go through the soundtrack listing (which is available on Wikipedia) and get some of these songs. It's blatantly amazing what songs they managed to compile onto one game disk. Guitar Hero and Rock Band, eat your fucking hearts out! Oh, and they managed to keep an M-rated game school-safe by offering 2 content filters, one for language, and one for blood/gore. If you're afraid of either, turn them on the first time it offers to let you 'cause this is no kiddie game.

My only real complaint on the game is the controls. They seem a little...dead. They're not nearly as responsive as they need to be when you're playing a game where you control a 90-man battalion against a 200-man one. Even the car, which plays a HUGE role in-game feels like it weighs 10 tons. I think if they'd given the game another month for work on livening up the controls, this could be one of the better games of the decade.

A great game with a good comedy role full of famous rock artists that needed a little more time to ripen before it was released upon the world.

So now onto the more artsy/life stuff. My laptop has been dying lately, as I said in my Twitter feed. Turns out I can't do shit about it because it's a design flaw in the laptop. The intake fan is on the underside of the computer and it's so close to the external shell, it will actually suck up bedsheets and the like. In other words, I can only use this thing on hard and semi-hard surfaces. That blows.
The past couple of days, my right eye (my good eye) has been hurting and I thought maybe it was just an eyelash or something. Apparently it was the early stages of an atrocious sty. Woke up yesterday and found my entire eyelid was swollen. Today it's better but worse at the same time. The left side of it has gone down, but it caused the middle to inflate more so now it's making my vision slightly blurry. I say slightly meaning I can't actually read what I'm typing and just going by the spell-check in Firefox. Hopefully it'll be totally gone soon.

Bought Resistance: Fall of Man (I already owned the sequel) the same day as my brother rented BL, so now I have that to eat a little spare time. Like I actually have any real spare time lately.

One last thing, I'm off this week for fall break.
